CPAP Fails in Peoria

In November, 2007 I asked the Peoria City Council to consider discussing Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) for the Peoria Fire Department(PFD) to help people who call 911 in respiratory distress (such as heart failure).

CPAP is used by prehospital providers (ambulances) in numerous cities with excellent results for the patient. See article.

In order to use CPAP, the PFD would have to have this cleared by OSF.

I spoke to a fire fighter who told me that the PFD is not using CPAP.

I guess OSF did not like the idea for some reason.
